Falcor and Ratatouille

We couldn't help noticing that Kacy's dogs could be celebrity impersonators. Molly of course is the spitting image of the luck dragon Falcor from The Neverending Story(which is a movie that Kacy has never seen so she didn't understand why everyone thinks this is so funny, in order to let her in on the joke I rented The Neverending Story on NetFlix and we watched it yesterday and now she agrees). And I think that if you catch Maggie at just the right angle she could double as Remy (the main character from the new Disney movie Ratatouille).

T.H.I.R.S.T.Y.

Everyone should drink more water, especially 8-12 year olds, and so (as socially responsible community health nursing students) my clinical group and I put together this little diddy for an assignment we have. Monday we will be presenting our video to the class and to the nurses from the local public health department - the guidelines were to create a video or powerpoint presentation that can be shown on the morning show at local schools to promote your assigned nutritious food - we got water (we lucked out).

Accio Deathly Hallows

I thought I was ahead of the game when I pre-ordered book seven online last fall, that way I was sure to get my copy and I didn't have to risk being out in public (where people could ruin my experience by yelling out plot spoilers) on release weekend. However I didn't count on how PAINFUL it would be to sit around waiting for the delivery guy to get to my house knowing that hundreds of thousands of people with less foresight than me were sitting at home with their books from midnight release parties at their local bookstores... curses! On the upside, I had a very productive morning trying to keep my mind off of the boy wizard. My copy finally came around 3pm and it was awesome. The delivery guy wanted to chat (about how many books he was delivering that day) but I was too exited to hold a conversation. As soon as the door closed I retreated to my room and did not emerge (aside from bathroom breaks and trips to the fridge) until midnight. I finished the book Sunday and it was everything I had imagined and more. JK Rowling is made of awesome.

Rhubarb Pie

I am a little slow with these pictures but this has been a big week in the world of a Harry Potter fan so you will have to forgive me. Last weekend Laura and I made some Rhubarb Pie and it was amazing. Laura has never had Rhubarb Pie and is now very excited to make one for Jay - her favorite part was making the lattice crust...

Its About Time

Brett brought his A-game this weekend: he took Kacy to a bed-and-breakfast in Savannah to celbrate their sixth anniversary over a long weekend. It rained all day Saturday so they decided to go for a walk to kill time before

their dinner reservation and he popped the question at dusk in front of the fountain in the middle of Forsyth Park (which was empty except for the two of them because it was still drizzling). Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Blade!

Dramatic Chipmunk

I have a quiz tomorrow that I am supposed to be studying for so I have been procrastinating by watching this video Laura's brother showed me. It is a clip from a nature documentary that someone recorded, put to music and titled "The Dramatic Chipmunk" when they posted it on YouTube - it makes me laugh everytime I watch it. The second one is the same clip with some graphics ;) CURSES! The Dramatic Chipmunk has been foiled again!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The fifth Harry Potter movie came out yesterday and I think it was pretty good... I'm sad they had to cut most of the tangential story lines but what can you do? More importantly, that means there are only ten short days left until the seventh book is released and that is what all true Harry Potter fans are excited about this summer! In honor of the hype I went to class in a Hogwarts uniform yesterday (I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely the cape billowed behind my bike) and then proceeded to wear it out to the bars last night. It was a big hit.

Austin's Lakehouse

Yesterday, Laura and I went out to our friend Austin's lakehouse. We were aiming to get there by 11 but since it is summer and since this is college, we didn't make it out until around 12:30... Laura brought her slalom ski and I brought my wakeboard and we spent the afternoon reminding ourselves of why we love growing up in Florida. My goal for the day was to work on landing jumps. I can get up on my wakeboard just fine and I can move in and out of the wake in both directions with relative ease but when it comes to jumping/landing I am terrible. This is unacceptable considering I own my own wakeboard - I think it is a bit embearassing to show up with your own wakeboard if you can't do something cool on it to impress the people on the boat. With a little advice from Austin and his brother I managed to land enough jumps to protect my good name. Laura makes me and my wipeouts look pathetic when she gets up on the slalom because she never falls, she did however manage to do something to her knee because today it is black and blue and a bit puffy. At least it is only her knee hurting her, later in the day I decided to try my hand at slaloming and wake skating (picture a board bigger than a skateboard without wheels but smaller than a wakeboard without fins) and I fell enough that it was painful to get out of be this morning, but I stayed up long enough for Laura to snap this picture of me enjoying a nice cold beverage while skiing behind the boat.

Kacy and Brett's Sixth Anniversary

Kacy and Brett are going to Savannah next weekend to celebrate their sixth anniversary but the actual date was July 6th. They couldn't celebrate this past weekend because Kacy had to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday :( and Kacy was upset because it is the first time they have ever been apart on their anniversary - oh the horror - so Laura and I decided to cheer her up by blowing up pictures of Brett's head to lifesize and placing them all around the house before she got home from work. We grilled out (in honor of Brett, the grill master) and Laura made Kacy's favorite dessert: ice-cream cake.

Awkward Mermaid and Seductive Mermaid

Surprisingly enough, these mermaids we spotted look remakibly similar to us. My favorite part of the picture taking experience was Kacy's mom telling her that her mermaid pose "looked awkward". As if mine didn't look awkward. You know that you are really looking awkward if your mom even thinks so. Since I was not looking awkward I decided to go for the seductive mermaid look.

Mario & Luigi

Alrighty then... don't know about you but I find it ...ah.. "concerning" when instead of the friendly gurgle of water moving properly thru the plumbing, there's the distictive "splat" of the tub draining somewhere it shouldn't. Like say under the house. Option One: Call a plumber and throw yourself at the mercy of his "expert opinion" which would, no doubt, include the need to replumb the entire system in 14 karat gold piping... OR Option Two: Suck it up and get your happy self under there to determine just what's going on and if you really need the afomentioned plumber and his car payment or simply a trip to the hardware store. Decisions, decisions. We (me and my lovely assistant, cheerleader and photo journalist, Paige) chose Door Number Two and won an all expense paid trip to Home Depot, a couple of bruised elbows and big girl bragging rights for crawling into the Belly of the Beast.
