Rooftop Day

Chuck came into NYC this weekend and, in order to maximize our sunshine time in this beautiful summertime weather we did a day of stuff outdoors. We started out eating lunch and walking around at the High Line Park which is an old elevated freight train track that has been converted into a public park. Then we took the subway over to Brooklyn where we met up with one of Chuck's high school friends, Dean, at a beer garden. We tried to coordinate with a couple other friends but everyone was busy, out of town or couldn't justify starting off their Saturday evening drinking at 2pm - their loss! We ate sausages, drank out way through a variety of international beers and enjoyed the view until around seven at which point we departed for a rooftop BBQ with Chuck and Dean's friend Ben (whom they also went to high school with). Ben lives in an apartment building in Brooklyn that has a roof deck that overlooks the southern tip of Manhattan. It was very cool to see the skyline at sunset and watch the whole city light up as it got dark! Last but not least we took the subway back to Manhattan and met up with Elaine and Tom (Elaine was at UF with me, she and Tom are currently in law school at Georgetown but they both have their summer internships in NYC) at a rooftop bar on the upper east side. This picture doesn't do it justice - we could see the Empire State building and the Chrysler building from our table! What a day...
