Game, Set, Match

So, last night I had a private tennis lesson with Nick Bollettieri. I've been trying to get him and Rene, President of Swiss Army, hooked up so that they can do some swiss army watch promotions together, as I knew Nick was a fan of the brand.

Lesson was awesome, even though I was only allowed to practice serves due to the never ending foot injuries this year.

Then we had dinner with Jeff, Nick, my coach Steve, Steve's wife, Rene and Rene's wife. Great night with lots of great stories about all the greats Nick has coached, Becker, Agassi, Williams Sisters and on and on. Nick is a great coach and a great humanitarian who takes pride in all of his foundations and philanthropic work he does.

Next stop for me this summer is the Girls Camp his wife runs in Vermont for overweight girls, no competitive sports, back to the 50's as he put it. Girls are taught how to cook healthy food, grown their own vegetables and do simple athletics like swimming, bike riding and running. No competitions...just recreation.

And, as you'll see from the last photo, looks like Nick and Swiss Army will be starting to do some promotions together! Nick asked if he could be the spokesperson since he loves the watches so much. (Thats Nick and Jeff's boss Rene) You'll notice a clear absence of a watch of Nick's hand....that will be fixed this afternoon when we return to the club!

Social Butterfly

I think it is hitting me that my clinical rotations start in two weeks - Chuck and I have gone out to dinner in the city twice this week, one of the other students (Emily) had a dinner party last night and then I went over to Katherine and Sheldon's new apartment for dinner tonight! Now if only I wasn't still supposed to be studying for my last two finals next week...

Spirit Fingers

We got the Spirit Award (read: we won a pizza party) from the New York State Association of Nurse Anesthetists this year for having the most spirit out of any NY nurse anesthesia program during National Nurse Anesthetists Week!This is a picture of both the junior class and senior class along with a couple of our instructors, which is why it looks like there are so many of us. What did we do to be so spirited you ask? Well, we had a pizza party to celebrate National Nurse Anesthetists Week (of course).

Chuck and his dad went to Washington, DC this month to lobby on behalf of their grocery store co-op. Congress was so impressed that they nearly shut down.

Put A Bird On It

I flew down to Florida a few weekends ago so that Laura, Patti and I could throw Kacy a baby shower! Now as you can imagine, when I say "we" planned a baby shower I mean that Laura and Patti pulled it off and I somehow got some credit - man can those girls throw a party or what?! While my Kappa Delta skills have rusted a bit post-college, theirs are still going strong. The party included a onesie decorating station (that is what I am doing in the first picture), an area with cards for baby name suggestions (they are still undecided, I voted for Bladette in honor of Brett's nickname which is 'Blade'), and homemade chocolate nests to go along with the theme of the shower which was "birds". It was a huge success, Kacy's new baby now owns more things than I do and it was a great excuse for us all to see each other again. We stayed at Kacy and Brett's house which has an awesome backyard that was perfect for an afternoon of sitting by the pool and catching up on all that has gone on since we were together last year for Laura's wedding. I miss you guys already!

Cabo 2011

We were back at Club Cascadas for my Spring Break this year. Chuck is exhaustingly busy with work these days and school has been occupying the vast majority of my time so Dad and Julie offered to whisk us away to Mexico for the week and we jumped at the chance! We spent our days lounging on our balcony, horseback riding, whale watching, kayaking, sunset cruising, napping and eating as much as humanly possible. It was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to go back!
